Medieval Japan started in 1185 and ended in 1603 CE. During this period, the Samurais rose to power and Japan
was mainly ruled by the Shogun. The Emperor only had de jure power and didn't succeed in his attempt to regain power.
Many local lords known as daimyōs fought for power, until Oda Nobunaga unified Japan. Some major events in this period is the Mongol invasion of Japan, the establishment of the Kamakura Shogunate, and the unification of Japan conducted by Oda Nobuanga.
